Huawei actively supports Uzbekistan's healthcare sector by providing thermal imaging cameras, walkie-talkies and body cameras, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.
Huawei, with the support and coordination of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of Uzbekistan, and the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare under the Ministry of Health, has held a series of meetings to discuss the use of ICT to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Uzbekistan.
Based on the agreements, two thermal imaging cameras installed in the arrival hall of Tashkent International Airport were provided by Huawei for free. Also, to support operational communication with the Agency headquarters, trunk communication radios and body cameras will be provided, which will allow to increase the efficiency of specialists' response on the spot and improve control over the situation.
Further plans include the transfer and installation of videoconferencing systems to remotely connect with Chinese clinics to share experiences and find the best solution to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
"Huawei is committed to actively supporting the health sector in the context of the pandemic. And in China's experience, we can see how ICT has helped millions to stay connected, order food, receive online consultation, monitor and analyze the data collected. We don't belittle in any way the heroism and rejection of doctors and all medical staff, but it is the ICT that is supposed to facilitate the work, ensure smooth data exchange and help resolve the situation as soon as possible," said Liu Jiasing, Director of Huawei Uzbekistan.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The number of people killed by the disease has surpassed 7,000. Over 182,000 people have been confirmed as infected. Meanwhile, over 79,000 people have reportedly recovered.
Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
Several countries are developing a vaccine against the new virus.
