The companies CISCO, Intel, Microsoft, Ericsson, Siemens and Huawei have shown particular interest in the project, mainly directed in the formation of the technical parks.
The project involves the establishment of technical parks to develop small-scale and middle-scale innovation entrepreneurship, a regional basis to manufacture and export hardware and software, the transformation of Azerbaijan into an advantageous transit data centre, human resources training for the information society and the introduction of IT within other fields.
Presently arrangements to establish RIZ are underway. In 2012-2015 income to be obtained from the communications and information technology sector will exceed the oil revenue. The implementation of the project envisages the conduct of tremendous reforms in the country's fiscal policy.
"Within the RIZ project, we propose to apply significant tax and customs privileges on companies," the ministers said.
