Cargo movements in Iranian ports increase - Ports and Maritime Organization

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 9.5 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 11.3 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 5.98 million tons were loaded and 5.29 million tons were unloaded.

About 3.88 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the fifth month, which is a decrease of 7.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.3 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded, 1.58 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products decreased by 16.8 percent, while the unloaded products increased by 9.1 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year.

In addition, 2.55 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is an increase of 79.9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 172,000 tons were loaded and 2.37 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 617,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the fifth month, which is a decrease of 16.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 605,000 tons were loaded and about 11,700 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 1.8 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 10 percent, compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 1.58 million tons were loaded and 218,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the fifth month, 40,400 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 38.6 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 6,740 tons were loaded and 33,700 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 348,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year. This is a decrease of 7.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 261,000 tons were loaded and about 87,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 86,100 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the fifth month, which is an increase of 4 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 5,790 tons of goods were loaded and 80,300 tons were unloaded.

A total of 375,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in the Iranian period during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products decreased by 16.2 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 177,000 tons were loaded and 198,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.57 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month, which is a decrease of 16.7 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 864,000 tons of products were loaded and 703,000 tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 5.17 million tons of goods were exported and 3.15 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 292,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 217,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 403,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.73 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 5th month. Also, 115,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 112,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the fifth month, about 4,280 tons of cargo were loaded and 76,500 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
