The volumes of cargo and passenger transportation by railway in Azerbaijan grew from January through November 2021, the State Statistical Committee told Trend.
According to the committee, these indicators amounted to 13.5 million tons and over 2.4 million persons, up by 200 tons (1.5 percent) and 457,300 persons (23 percent) on annual basis, respectively.
The committee noted that railway transport in the reporting period accounted for 7.8 percent of all cargo transportation.
Meanwhile, the average number of loaded railway cars per day made up 353 and unloaded - 343. The average daily load of the cars in the northern direction was 17,400 tons, in the western direction – 3,200 tons, and in the southern direction - 700 tons.
Cargo transportation by all means in the first 11 months of this year amounted to 174.8 million tons, which is 2.2 percent more than in the same period of 2020, and passenger transportation by all means – over one billion people, which is a decrease of two percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020.
