Cargo transportation via Iran’s Tabriz International Airport soars

The volume of cargo transported through Tabriz International Airport in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 81 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, 8,853 tons of cargo were transported through the airport in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 4,898.

“Furthermore, 919,271 passengers were transported through the Tabriz International Airport over nine months. Passenger transportation increased by 26 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 731,665 passengers had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In total, 9,219 flights (passenger planes only) were carried out from Tabriz Airport within 9 months, which is an increase of 33 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure amounted to 6,956 in the same period last Iranian year.

Iran's Tabriz International Airport is located on 420 hectares of land.
