BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9. The US government removed Kazakh “Bereke bank” from its list of sanctioned financial institutions, Trend reports, citing the press service of the bank.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) removed the bank from the Sectoral Sanctions Identifications (SSI) list and the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.

This will enable the bank to return to work with foreign exchange transactions and resume correspondent relations with foreign banks.

“Bereke Bank” applied for the removal of sanctions to OFAC some time ago.

The sanctions were lifted because "Bereke Bank", earlier known as "Sberbank Kazakhstan", changed its owner. The financial institution is now a part of “Baiterek” National Management Holding, of which the sole shareholder is the Kazakh government.
