DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 9. Industrial enterprises in Khujand city, located in Tajikistan's Sughd region, achieved a total production output of 1.167 billion somoni ($106 million) from January through September 2023, which is an increase of 8.2 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
There also has been significant growth in exports from the city. Khairullo Gaibullozoda, the First Deputy Chairman of Khujand city, said that the export of goods from Khujand reached 343.6 million somoni ($31.3 million) from January through September 2023. He noted that exports increased by 51.2 million somoni ($4.6 million) or 12.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
"The city has opened 49 small and medium-sized production enterprises and workshops with the latest equipment and technological lines by October of this year. Thanks to these enterprises, 292 residents have been provided with jobs," the Deputy Chairman said.
In total, 254 industrial enterprises are operating in Khujand at the moment.
