It is planned to commission gas and chemical complex in the settlement of Kiyanly (Balkan region, Turkmenistan) in September 2018, the Turkmen government said in a message.
“The increase of the share of gas processing products in the export structure will allow Turkmenistan to take its rightful place in the promising market of chemical products,” President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who visited the construction site of the complex, said.
The Turkmen president added that the presence of gas fields containing highly structured ethane in Turkmenistan creates favorable conditions for intensive development of gas and chemical segment.
The complex, the construction of which started in the Kiyanly settlement in 2013, is designed to process five billion cubic meters of natural gas for the production of 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year.
The project is implemented by Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corporation, South Korea’s LG and Hyundai companies. The total cost of the project is over $3.4 billion.
This project’s implementation will provide high-quality products not only for country’s domestic demand but also the foreign market.
