CIS Foreign Ministers Council’s meeting to be held in Tashkent

The next meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council will be held in Tashkent on April 5, 2013, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

'Heads of the foreign ministries of 11 member states will discuss issues of cooperation within the Commonwealth and the preparation for meetings of the CIS statutory bodies', the report says.

According to the CIS Executive Committee, foreign ministers of the CIS countries will consider more than 10 issues regulating links of CIS countries in the political, security, education, the development of physical culture, sport and tourism.

In particular, delegates will discuss the draft agreement of the CIS countries on the mutual recognition of higher and higher vocational education, as well as the protocol on amending the agreement on cooperation on the formation of a single education area in the CIS on January 17, 1997.

The agenda includes consideration of the plan for 2013-2015 to implement the strategy of developing physical culture and sport in the CIS countries up to 2020, as well as the issue of declaring 2014 as the Year of Tourism.

Moreover, foreign ministers will consider the plans of the multi-level inter-ministerial consultations within the Commonwealth for 2013 and the draft provisions on the advisory board of the heads of consular services of the Foreign Ministries of the CIS countries.
