The information on Uzbekistan's state program 'Year of a Healthy Child' was circulated at the UN Headquarters as an official document of the UN General Assembly 68th Session, according to the Jahon news agency.

It was reported that the year 2014 was declared the 'Year of a Healthy Child' upon the initiative of Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

The program includes issues regarding the birth, upbringing and education of children, strengthening healthy atmosphere in the family, its economic, spiritual and moral foundations, improving the efficiency of funds allocated to the social sector.

The program's primary goals are to provide safety of maternal and child health, strengthening maternal and child health, creation of necessary conditions for self-realization and relieving the everyday household work of women and providing financial support for development of young families.

Some 4.509 trillion soums ($302.9 million) will be allocated from various sources for the program.

The information on the program was translated into all six official languages of UN - Arabic, English , Spanish, Chinese, Russian and French.

Each year has been designated in Uzbekistan with specific titles starting form 1997.

Thus, the year 1997 was declared the Year of the Human Interests, 1998 - the Year of the Family, 1999 - the Year of Women, 2000 - the Year of Healthy Generation, 2001 - the Year of Mother and Child, 2002 - the Year of Protection of Interests of Elderly People, 2003 - Year of Mahalla (Uzbek neighborhood), 2004 - the Year of Kindness and Charity, 2005 - the Year of Health, 2006 - the Year of Charity and Medical Workers, 2007 - the Year of Social Protection, 2008 - the Year of the Youth, 2009 - the Year of Development and Improvement, 2010 - the Year of Harmonically Developed Generation, 2011 - the Year of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, 2012 - the Year of Family and 2013 - the Year of Wellbeing and Prosperity.
