(dpa) - An Iraqi official said the date for the fourth round of talks between US and Iranian officials over Iraq's security has not yet been set while an Iranian delegation in Baghdad said the meeting was planned for Thursday.
The spokesman for the Iraqi government, Ali al-Dabagh, was quoted as saying by the state-owned newspaper al-Sabah his country was keen on hosting the trilateral talks but the date has not yet been set.
Iran's state news agency, IRNA, reported Wednesday that the Iranian delegation for the talks was in Baghdad and cited its head, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, as saying the talks would be held Thursday.
In May, US and Iranian ambassadors held their first discussions over the security situation in Iraq, which was followed by another meeting last summer. A third round of talks was held at expert-level.
The US says Iran is funding and arming Iraq's Shiite militias, hence the reason for the talks.
