Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Tehran was twice summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where he received a note of protest, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Hassan Gashkavi said, the agency Fars reported on Wednesday.
"The last time Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Tehran was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Thursday, where he received a note with regard to the reports that the Iranian prisoners will be executed in Saudi Arabia," Gashkavi said.
He said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi held a number of telephone conversations with his Saudi counterpart Saud Al-Faisal on the subject. Gashkavi also noted that the Saudi side has not responded to demands of Iran to explain the position of Riyadh in the issue of the Iranian prisoners' execution.
Earlier, a number of media reports that Saudi Arabia will execute the Iranian prisoners.
