Iran plans to produce 75 million tons of cement by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2013), deputy industry minister Vajihollah Jafari stated.
"The total cement production capacity will reach 86 million tons," Vajihollah Jafari told the ISNA news agency.
Iran's cement output amounted to 30.5 million tons in the first five months of the current year, the IRIB reported.
The output was 3.2 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
Iran produced over 66.4 million tons of cement in the past calendar year, showing a 8 percent rise compared to the previous year.
"The country's current cement production capacity stands at 74 million tons," Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said. Ghazanfari added that the figure will reach 110 million tons by 2015.
