(IRNA) - Iran and Azerbaijan here Tuesday discussed ways of bolstering their bilateral cultural and educational cooperation banking on their cultural and historical commonalties.
Iranian First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi received the visiting Azeri Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, reports Trend.
Davoudi, during talks with the Mardanov, expressed Iran's readiness to boost cooperation with Azerbaijan in various educational areas, saying exchange of visits between the two countries' officials can play an important role in this regard.
Mardanov, for his part, said expansion of ties with Iran was a priority in his country's foreign policy and ties with Tehran were regarded as important.
He pointed to a working group set up by the two countries in the field of education to promote joint programs and highlighted the importance of promoting the exchange program on university professors and students as well as research work on Iranian and Azerbaijani cultures.
