By Fatih Karimov - Trend: National Iranian Drilling Company has put its latest drilling rig into operation.
The Fath-93 drilling rig was into operation today at the southern oilfields, Iran's Shana news agency reported on November 11.
Currently, 71 drilling rigs are operating at the southern oilfields, the report added.
The new drilling rig can drill wells of down to 6,000 meters depth.
Mohammad-Reza Takaidi, deputy director of the National Iranian Drilling Company said in September that one hundred percent of the drilling rigs which have been imported to Iran over the past seven to eight years had been Chinese-made.
He added that 120 drilling rigs are currently operating at the country's oil and gas fields, Iran's ILNA news agency reported.
Twenty drilling rigs are operating at offshore fields and the rest are operating at onshore fields, he added.
NIDC owns 70 drilling rigs, he said, adding that the rest are belonged to the North Drilling Company, Naft Kav, Sepanta, MAPNA, GPTC, and Tadbir companies.
