Tehran, Iran, Apr. 12
By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:
Iran plans to cut imports, says the country’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.
The ministry is preparing a list of items whose domestic production meets the demand and their import is going to be limited, Nematzadeh said after a cabinet meeting, IRNA news agency reported Apr. 12.
He pointed out that the decision to cut imports comes from a policy introduced by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which the Iranian leader calls “resistance economy”.
The term is used to signify minimum reliance on foreign sources in order to minimize political threats from other countries.
