Georgian FM leaves for U.S. visit

Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze left for her first official visit to the United States on Wednesday morning.

As Panjikidze told reporters before her departure, it is the first official visit of a new Georgian government's representative to the country, a strategic partner and in this sense it is important.

"This is the first visit to the country which is a strategic partner and it is important. I will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with the Congress and Senate members, as well as with representatives of the local media outlets," Panjikidze said.

One of the aims of Panjikidze's visit is the preparation of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's visit to the U.S. According to preliminary data, the visit is scheduled to be paid in January.
