The idea of announcing Samtskhe- Javakheti a free economic zone is a part of the plan against Georgia, President Saakashvili said in Batumi, commenting on Russian diaspora's statement on the necessity to declare Armenian-populated Samtskhe-Javakheti region a free economic zone.

"The new idea of separatism is introduced insensibly. Everything is interconnected. Opening of railway from Abkhazia to Armenia via Georgia is fundamentally contrary to the interests of Georgia at this stage," he said. He said the recent release of the Armenian separatist is also a part of the plan to separate Armenian-populated region of Georgia.

Saakashvili noted that organization of an attack on the central Georgian government was launched by these means, and the proposal of announcing a so called free economic zone is made for the same purposes.

"They want to create a demonstrative unit in Javakheti at all costs and the idea of a free economic zone is announced in order to create a single administrative unit, and demand its autonomy and independence from Georgia once it is established," he said.

Earlier Georgian President accused Georgian Prime Minister and Parliament in the release of an "enemy of Georgian statehood," Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan.
