Tbilisi City Council’s deputy speaker and two deputies detained in Georgia

The Georgian law enforcement bodies have detained the Deputy Speaker of Tbilisi City Council Sakrebulo (a representative body in the city government) and two members of the local self-governing body of the Georgian capital.

The Georgian law enforcement bodies have detained the Deputy Speaker of Tbilisi City Council Sakrebulo (a representative body in the city government) and two members of the local self-governing body of the Georgian capital.

Deputy Speaker Mamuka Akhvlediani and deputies from the United National Movement Party Mamuka Gugeshashvili and David Avaliani are being interrogated by the financial police, the Tbilisi City Hall told Trend on Thursday.

All of them were arrested on their way to work.

Tbilisi City Council said the list of detainees may be extended although there is no official information.

All these people were witnesses to the case of privatisation of a facility in Rike, the old district of Tbilisi.
