(dpa) - US President George W Bush offered his condolences to the families of 10 French soldiers who died in Afghanistan Tuesday after an ambush by Taliban militants.
Bush was briefed at his ranch in Crawford, Texas on the attack that wounded more than 20 other French soldiers, said Gordon Johndroe, the spokesman for the White House's National Security Council.
"He sends his condolences to the loved ones of those lost, as well as those wounded, and to the people of France, just offer our heartfelt thanks for the sacrifice that they are making and the commitment that the French are making to help secure Afghanistan," he said.
