Turkey reveals cargo traffic via its local ports from Italy

The ports of Turkey handled over 1.5 million tons of cargo from Italy in January 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, 615,287 tons of cargo from Italy were delivered to ports by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 940,632 tons were delivered by ships flying the flags of other countries.

In the first month of this year, ships flying the Italian flag delivered 17,227 tons of cargo to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, over 3.2 million tons of cargo from Italy were transited through the ports.

Totally, more than 33.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in January 2022.

During the reporting period, 2.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag.

At the same time, around 30.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports.

Moreover, 7.6 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

In 2021, Turkey's ports totally handled 386.3 million tons of cargo, and freight traffic by ships flying the Turkish flag through domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons.

Besides, last year, cargo transportation via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the flags of other countries totaled 356.3 million tons, and the cargo transit volume made up 78 million tons.
