The Permanent Representatives of Kazakhstan and Mauritius to the United Nations Kairat Abdrakhmanov and Milan Jaya Nyamrajsingh Meetarbhan signed a joint communique on the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in New York, Kazinform news agency reported with the reference to Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
"During the signing ceremony, the parties exchanged views on the bilateral cooperation and on the important issues of the UN agenda of Kazakhstan's and Mauritius' interest," the ministry's message said.
The parties noted the importance of experience sharing in the economic development, expansion of mutually beneficial bilateral contacts, especially in the field of tourism, finance, trade, mining, energy and access to regional markets.
Mauritius, as a regional business "bridge" offers convenient services to the companies for doing business and provides an attractive package of financial incentives.
"It was proposed to consider the possibility of signing agreements on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments and avoidance of double taxation between Kazakhstan and Mauritius as a first step for interaction strengthening," said the message.
Kazakh diplomat on behalf of Kazakh Government invited the Mauritius government to participate in the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
Mauritius is an island country located in the south-western part of the Indian Ocean, with a population of over 1 million people. The island's economy focuses on tourism, agricultural and fishing industry. Mauritius is very popular among European tourists along with the Maldives and Seychelles.
