Deputy Foreign Ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e Ravanchi discussed on Thursday drafting a comprehensive deal with US Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and EU deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmidt, Irna reported.

Talks between the two sides took about one and a half hour.

Deputy foreign ministers of the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) resumed the 8th round of nuclear talks eight days ago (last Wednesday) on drafting a comprehensives deal before deadline.

In the middle of nuclear talks, the Iranian deputy foreign ministers joined Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday in Luxemburg to confer with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, Schmidt and their counterparts from France, Germany and Britain on nuclear related issues.

It was agreed that the experts and deputy foreign ministers would continue talks and in case of necessity, foreign ministers of G5+1 join them.

Zarif is to join his deputies on Saturday and US Secretary of State John Kerry will depart for Vienna on Friday.

July first has been set as deadline for Iran and the G5+1 to sign the comprehensive deal.

Iran and G5+1 negotiators are working on drafting a comprehensive deal and the two sides hope will end a 12-year old nuclear dispute.
