The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will discuss the elections held in Azerbaijan.

"The permanent and political committees of the OSCE PA constantly present reports, conduct discussions, make certain recommendations on the election results," vice speaker of Parliament, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE PA Bahar Muradova said on Thursday in an interview to the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

According to Muradova, if the Assembly will make a non-constructive view, the Azerbaijani delegation will express its position. "I believe that our position is sufficiently supported by the arguments and facts. Of course, we have repeatedly witnessed the subjective attitude of certain circles towards the elections in Azerbaijan," said Muradova.

The same attitude was expressed by long-term mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, she added.
According to Muradova, always there are sharp discrepancies between the reports of the OSCE institutions and the reports of the Parliamentary Assembly of the same organization.

"This is evident not only in connection with the elections in Azerbaijan, but with elections in other countries. The long-term mission is really to express its opinion, implementing instructions of some sources. Therefore, these reports are not accepted seriously. But, in general, most of other reports showed that the elections in Azerbaijan were democratic, transparent, free and complied with the requirements of both Azerbaijani law and international standards. These reports have called the elections a right step towards the development of democracy in Azerbaijan. These elections brought success not only to some political forces and persons, but also contributed to the expansion of electoral experience and are the result of the confident work of electoral structures," said Muradova.

Azerbaijan held the parliamentary elections Nov. 7. The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.

The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
