Turkey’s health ministry launches office in Sudanese capital

Turkey's Ministry of Health inaugurated an office in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Thursday, in an attempt to ease the cooperation on health management between the two countries Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkey's Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu and Deputy Prime Minister Emrullah Isler inaugurated the office, which will be used as a contact office.

Muezzinoglu said at the opening ceremony that Turkey would share its experience on health management with Sudan, in particular after the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA) opened a new hospital in the South Darfur's capital Nyala.

Turkey has increased its aid efforts over the last decade, with aid rising from $85 million in 2002 to over $1.25 billion in 2012. TIKA has 35 branches around the world and runs operations in 110 countries.
