BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 10. COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev and COP29 Youth Climate Champion Leyla Hasanova attended the closing ceremony of the 19th United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY19), Trend reports.
At the event, members of the COP29 Presidency Team emphasized the importance of active youth engagement in the COP process. Held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 7-9, 2024, COY19 convened 400 young delegates to amplify youth voices in the fight against climate change. Endorsed by the COP29 Presidency and co-organized by YOUNGO—the official children and youth constituency of the UNFCCC—and the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO), COY19 served as a key platform to empower youth in climate action.
During the closing ceremony, the Global Youth Statement, which consolidates global youth perspectives on climate action, was officially handed to the COP29 Presidency.
