Kazakhstan, Astana, 11 April / Trend corr. K.Konirova / The Year of Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani national leader, began in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The meeting dedicated to 85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev was held in the Karaganda University named Buketov.
Opening the ceremony, Erken Kubeev, rector of Karaganda University, stated that mostly connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev is that of a new stage in the Azerbaijani Government. Latif Gandilov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan, informed guests about the activity and significance of Heydar Aliyev in the new history of Republic.
Askar Barazbayev, deputy chairman of Small Peoples' Assembly of Kazakhstan on Karagand province, cited the statement by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev about Heydar Aliyev and said "the sun becomes smaller when a great man dies".
Barazbayev noted that the friendship of the two Presidents of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Heydar Aliyev, laid down the foundation for the current friendship relations that between both countries.
The organizers of the event are the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani Diaspora in Karaganda 'Namuz', Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Friendship and Cooperation Association and administration of Karaganda.
The events, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev will also be held in Petropavlovsk, Kokchetav, Astana and territories thickly-populated with Azerbaijanis.
