Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions and set a task so that the State Security Service and the Foreign Intelligence Service would meet the modern requirements, head of the Azerbaijan State Security Service, Lieutenant-General Madat Guliyev told reporters Jan.19.
"He said that a month was given for that. New structures have been created in the service, areas identified and submitted to the president," he said.
"Now we began our activities within the framework of the powers given to us," Guliyev said.
"Our goal is so that compact professional team of our staff would work at a higher level, meeting the modern requirements," Guliyev said.
He said that there is no necessity for the service to be represented in all the cities.
Departments of the Azerbaijan State Security Service will be located in large cities and supervise other localities.
"We will intensify our efforts in border districts," Guliyev said.
