A mission consisting of experts from the UN, the European Union (EU) and the World Bank (WB) arrived in Azerbaijan to assess the needs of restoration and reconstruction in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 second Karabakh war], Trend reports.
The assessment will be based on the methodology of Recovery and Peacebuilding Assessments (RPBA).
During the visit, the experts will get acquainted with the work in Aghdam, Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts of Azerbaijan.
The delegation members have already met with the leadership of the Interdepartmental Center operating under the Coordination Headquarters, established in connection with the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and the heads of working groups operating under the center.
At the meeting, Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Head of the Secretariat of the Coordination Headquarters Nusrat Suleymanov informed about the activities of the Coordination Headquarters and stressed the importance of the existing interdepartmental coordination mechanism in the implementation of restoration and construction work in the liberated territories.
Speaking at the meeting, Emin Huseynov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories (except the Shusha district) within the Karabakh economic region, said that the experts who arrived within the mission will get acquainted with the work done in the territories.
Then the experts were informed about the clearing of the liberated territories from mines, the preparation of master plans for cities, the creation of communications and transport infrastructure, energy supply, the environmental situation and forest restoration, the current state and restoration of historical and cultural monuments, ongoing work to return citizens to the liberated territories.
Based on the results of the visit, the expert mission will prepare a preliminary report.
