My visit to Azerbaijan is of a special nature and I feel very hopeful, the OSCE Commissioner for Freedom of Speech, Miklosh Harashti, told a Press Conference on 10 October as a result of his visit to Azerbaijan,Trend reports
He stressed that after assessment of the situation of the Freedom of Press in 2005, OSCE and Azerbaijani Government have jointly held a series of measures in its development.
Harashti added that he appealed to the senior officials of Azerbaijan, as well as President Ilham Aliyev regarding the amnesty of journalists and other several issues, and received a positive response. According to him, the Azerbaijani President also expressed his dissatisfaction with the level of journalism in the country and conscientiously follows the change of the national standards.
The Commissioner emphasized that OSCE is ready to render assistance in raising the level of journalism in Azerbaijan.
