Azerbaijani Court Considers Petition to Invite Baku Executive Power Head as Witness

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 January / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / A petition to invite the head of the Baku Executive Power to the court trial as a witness was brought in during the preparatory session on the case of Rovshan Novruzoglu, the arrested director of the Centre against International Terrorism and Corruption.

The lawyer Tofik Allahverdiyev said to Trend that he brought in a petition to invite Hajibala Abutalibov, the head of Baku Executive Power, as a witness at the next session. The Court made the decision to consider the petition during the next session which is scheduled for 24 January.

Novruzouglu is charged with contravening Articles 320.1 (falsification of documents), Articles 320.2 (use of false documents) and Articles 310 (appropriation powers of officials) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. Novruzoglu was imprisoned on the basis of documents submitted by the Executive Administration of Baku City to the Prosecutor General's Office of Nasimi District. Novruzoglu represented himself to the official of the Prosecutor Office and the Department against corruption at the Prosecutor General's Office. The Investigation Department on Grave Crimes at the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan is holding investigations on the case. The political scientist is imprisoned in the National Security Ministry.
