( dpa ) - Ana Ivanovic won her first career match over Venus Williams after four defeats advancing to the semi-finals of the Australian Open 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 on Wednesday.

The Serb fourth seed will face another first-time Melbourne semi-finalist in Daniela Hantuchova, who defeated Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-2.

Ivanovic completed a Serbian sweep of the Williams sisters, with third seed Jelena Jankovic dispatching defending champion Serena on Tuesday.

Ivanovic struggled through an opening set which included six consecutive breaks of serve, then came back from 0-3 in the second.

She broke Williams, a thigh heavily strapped, in the penultimate game and served out the win as the American sprayed a return wide.

"It's amazing, the crowd helped me through the second set," said "Aussie Ana," who trains in December in Sydney. "I'm thrilled that this happened in Australia.

"It was an amazing match, I'm just so happy to be through."

Ivanovic stands 2-1 over Hantuchova, with all matches against the Slovak played last season.
