Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation plans to expand its activities in Azerbaijan

In a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev, President of the RVF Elena Rostropovich expressed his satisfaction with the organization’s activities in Azerbaijan and desire to expand activities in the future, the fund told Trend News.

The Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation (RVF) plans to expand its activities in Azerbaijan.

In a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev, President of the RVF Elena Rostropovich expressed his satisfaction with the organization's activities in Azerbaijan and desire to expand activities in the future, the fund told Trend .

Aliyev and Rostropovich met under the annual meeting of the RVF Board of Directors in Washington.

Member of the Board of Directors Monique Duroc-Danner named holding of the first meeting Baku in 2008 as manifestation of successful cooperation. Duroc-Danner said that the fund is ready to continue to assist in the implementation of long-term health programs in the name of protecting the health of the Azerbaijani children.

In the meeting with Aliyev, RVF Executive Director William Amos praised the success of the fund in this country in close cooperation with the Health Ministry. Speaking on implementation of the programs in 2010, Amos expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the embassy in this regard. Aliyev thanked the fund's management for the work aimed at protecting children's health saying that the embassy is ready to provide any assistance in this direction.

Since 2003, the RVF together with the Azerbaijani Health Ministry have successfully implemented immunization programs against measles, rubella and mumps among children, as well as programs on worming, electronic reporting system on infectious diseases, diagnosis of AIDS and hepatitis B in pregnant women and prevention of hepatitis B in newborns.
