Azerbaijani ecology ministry organizes tour to National Park Altiagac for journalists (PHOTO)

The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry organized tour to the National Park Altiagac for media representatives under the 'Year of Ecology' in Azerbaijan, the ministry told Trend.
The event "2010 - 'Year of Ecology' - in the name of the green world" held on Oct.21 was aimed to acquaint the media representatives with the flora and fauna of the National Park Altiagac, as well as with the Wildlife and Rehabilitation Clinic Center operating under the National Park.
During the press-tour attended by representatives of around 30 leading media outlets, National Park Protection Department deputy director Pasha Mammadov informed the journalists about the park and answered their questions.
The National Park Altiagac was established in 2004. The total area of the park is 11,035 hectares. The main purpose of the park is the protection and preservation of natural landscapes, flora and fauna of the south-eastern foothills of the Greater Caucasus, their rehabilitation, strengthening the protection of natural systems, holding of environmental monitoring, creation of conditions for research, tourism and recreation and organization of educational work on the ecology.
