ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, May 30. Participants of the 3rd International Conference on Humanitarian Demining familiarized themselves with the reconstruction works in Zangilan, Trend reports.

Particularly, the foreign guests visited the new mosque in Zangilan, where they had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with its history.

Meanwhile, following the liberation of the occupied territories, construction and restoration work began at the Zangilan Mosque within the framework of the restoration project of historical, religious and cultural monuments of Karabakh. A working group, which included local and foreign experts, assessed the condition of the mosque, and based on this, a decision was made to preserve the building.

A new mosque was built next to the preserved historical mosque. By its design, the mosque building is rectangular, with two minarets and three naves. It has prayer halls for 220 and 100 people. The minarets and the dome of the mosque are made of brick and lined with tiles. The interior is decorated with calligraphic inscriptions, and the mihrab is decorated with plant ornaments made of tiles. The minbar and shebeke elements are made of natural wood.

Afterward, the guests visited the village of Aghaly, built based on the concept of a "smart village." In particular, they watched a performance organized by students of the secondary school in the village.

The village has the necessary socio-technical infrastructure that meets modern requirements and all conditions for the comfortable and safe living of the residents.

To note, the III International Conference on Humanitarian Demining on the theme "Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for Safe and Green Future" was launched in Zangilan under the joint organization of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The conference has received much attention from the international community. Among the participants are high-ranking officials from many countries, senior staff of the UN Head Office, representatives of authoritative international organizations, officials of demining centers of various countries, as well as officials of diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan.
