British entrepreneurs show interest in construction sector of Uzbekistan

British entrepreneurs expressed interest in projects for the processing of fruit and vegetable and meat products, as well as the creation of a production of building materials in the Karakalpakstan Republic in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, the UK.

It was also noted that the supply of fresh fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Britain, as well as licorice extract, may also become promising.

The mentioned issues were discussed by the deputy governor of the Shumanai region of Karakalpakstan Republic Ulugbek Khalmuratov and the international trade adviser of the UK Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Koyas Miah during online negotiations organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London.

A detailed presentation of the investment and trade potential of Karakalpakstan was held with an emphasis on promising projects proposed for joint implementation in Uzbekistan in the field of production of finished textile goods, processing of fruits and vegetables and meat products, as well as the creation of production of building materials with further export to countries of near and far abroad.

Koyas Miah noted that the Suffolk County Chamber of Commerce, established in 1884, is a member of the British Chambers of Commerce Association and unites more than 500 companies of various profiles. Among the members of the chamber are manufacturers of agricultural products, food industry, chemical industry, information technology, and other goods. Suffolk is also home to the UK's largest port, Felixstowe.

Referring to the prospects for cooperation with Karakalpakstan, Miah noted that British business circles are closely watching the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years and are showing interest in closer cooperation with representatives of Uzbek business.
