( dpa ) - The state-owned Hungarian lottery company Szerencsejatek and the national electricity firm Hungarian Electricity Works (MVM) are among the companies the government is considering listing on the Budapest Stock Exchange, Finance Minister Janos Veres said on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany on Monday announced a "new ownership" programme that will see state-owned companies partially listed to allow ordinary Hungarian to buy shares.

Veres said the list of companies to be listed would be finalised by the end of March and could be on the bourse by the end of the year.

Gyurcsany said the government would maintain a controlling share in companies considered to be strategic.

Most analysts believe that the postal service could also be listed.
