Azerbaijan will prepare proposals to impose VAT on e-commerce in 2011, Vusal Shikhaliyev, the head of Main Department on Tax Policy and Strategic Studies under the Ministry of Taxes, said.
"The Ministry of Taxes will prepare proposals to use VAT in electronic commerce, which will be held within the country," he said.
He said that popularity to online shopping is increased in the country. In this case, it is important to resolve the issue on taxation. The proposals will be prepared within the action plan of the Ministry of Taxes.
VAT rate in Azerbaijan is 18 percent.
