President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov supports the establishment of the SCO Development Bank to finance major projects in the Central Asian region.

"SCO will become an attractive structure if it assumes specific commitments. Establishment of the SCO bank to finance major projects will effectively resolve the challenges of development in our countries," Karimov said at the SCO summit in Astana.

The jubilee summit of SCO takes place today in Astana. Leaders of SCO countries will be summing up the first ten years of the activities of the organization, identify ways of further development and sign a package of documents, the main of which will be the Astana Declaration of the decade.

The SCO consists of six countries - China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have the observer status.
