Iran is exporting less oil than the official OPEC data says, according to professor at the University of Glasgow and expert on nuclear issues Reza Taghizadeh.
"14 months ago, Iran was manufacturing more than 4 million barrels of oil daily. Right now, this figure has decreased to 3,600 mln barrels," Taghizadeh told Trend. "Two mln barrels of this figure goes for producing fuel and kerosene".
Taghizadeh noted that purchasing of oil has decreased, as well as oil production.
"Iran's oil exports have reduced, compared to last year, due to sanctions imposed on the country," he added.
Speaking about Iran Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi's announcement that Iran's oil export reached $60 billion, Taghizadeh noted that there's no reason no to believe this figure.
Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said that Iran's oil export reached to $60 billion despite sanctions imposed by the U.S. and the European Union.
He didn't mention any figure about Iran's oil export volume, however he claimed that Iran's oil export during last solar year (ended on March 19) increased and the figures of oil revenues is increasing.
Qasemi rejected Iranian oil export decline, saying the customers queue to buy Iranian oil, however, according to Reuters, Japan, South Korea and China have decreased Iranian oil imports by 22 percent in total.
"Iran is exporting its oil along with gas condensates, and I assume in the coming three months or so, the export will be decreasing," Taghizadeh said.
