The China National Chemical Engineering Company (CNCEC) will build a polyvinyl chloride caustic soda and methanol production complex in Uzbekistan, a government source told Trend today.

According to the source, the Chinese company won the tender with a contract starting price worth $ 440 million for the turnkey construction of a chemical complex.

The total cost of the chemical complex construction created on the basis of the Navoiazot combine is $470.8 million. It is planned to be financed through the Uzbek Fund for Reconstruction and Development, Navoiazot's own funds and loans from international financial institutions. It is planned to be constructed by late 2015.

The design capacity of the complex is 100,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride, 64,000 tons of caustic soda and 300,000 tons of methanol per year.

The Navoiazot combine (former Navoi chemical plant) is the largest chemical company in Uzbekistan. It was commissioned in 1964. The plant specialises in the production of nitrogen fertilisers, nitronic fibre, as well as integrated production of organic synthesis.
