By 2025, the production of citrus fruits in Azerbaijan will reach 100,000 tons per year, Trend reports with reference to the "Market Analysis Azerbaijan 2019" publication.
For comparison, 52,000 tons of citruses were produced in the country in 2017. Main citruses cultivated in Azerbaijan are tangerines, feijoa and lemons.
As for the production of pomegranate, its production doubled between 2012 and 2017, having increased from 85,500 tons to 156,800 tons.
The main export destination for Azerbaijani pomegranates is Russia, but the country plans to expand the geography of exports in 2019.
The publication notes that a $15 million complex for processing pomegranates is under construction in Azerbaijan.
