Uzbekistan intends to grow 3.5 M tons of vegetables in 2019

Uzbekistan intends to grow 3.5 million tons of vegetables this year, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

The government resolution "On measures to improve the efficiency of use of plots of peasant farms and household plots" states that vegetables will be sown on 172 hectares of peasant farms and household plots and over 3.5 million tons of vegetables will be grown. It is planned that 23,000 hectares will be occupied by onions, and 18,000 hectares by carrots.

In total, it is expected to harvest up to 667 tons of melons from 31,500 hectares of land, 1 million tons of potatoes from 47,000 hectares and 80,000 tons of beans from 26,700 hectares. About five million tons of the total volume of cultivated products to go to the domestic market, while 690,000 tons to be exported.
