A cement factory in Garlyk city of Lebap region in Turkmenistan exported 256,000 tons of 857,000 tons of products manufactured in 2019, Trend reports referring to Business Turkmenistan news agency.
This is mainly Portland cement of M400 and M500 brands, which was sent to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The Lebap plant located in the Koytendag district is one of the biggest facilities in Central Asia.
The plant operates using local raw materials.
There are plans to build another similar plant in the Koytendag district, in order to increase the Turkmen export potential.
The production capacity of the Lebap plant, launched in February 2013, is 1 million tons per year with the possibility of increase to 1.5 million tons.
The plant was built by Turkish Polimeks company. The plant produces Portland cement, grouting cement, necessary for the oil and gas industries, as well as sulfate-resistant cement used in hydraulic structures.
Polimeks also commissioned a similar plant in western Turkmenistan - near Jebel city in the Balkan region. The plant’s value was estimated at 180 million euros. Big facilities of a similar type operate in the Ahal region.
In order to fully and timely satisfy consumer demand, a network of cement sales outlets has been set in all regional centers.
In addition, Turkmen entrepreneurs were instructed to establish construction of mini-factories for the production of cement throughout the country.
