Agricultural production in Uzbekistan increases

The volume of production in agriculture, forestry and fisheries In Uzbekistan increased by 3.9 percent, in the first quarter of 2020 compared to same period of 2019, up to 25.2 trillion soum ($2.4 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In particular, the volume of production in agriculture increased by 3.9 percent to 23.6 trillion soum ($2.3 billion) over the reporting period, compared to the first quarter of 2019, including plant production by 6.4 percent to 1.7 trillion soum ($166.6 million), livestock production by 3.6 percent to 21.9 trillion soum ($2.1 billion).

In the period from January through March 2020, the share of private subsidiary farms in the total agricultural output was 88.2 percent against 87.8 percent in the same period of 2019, farms - 7.6 percent (7.9 percent) and other organizations engaged in agricultural activities - 4.2 percent (4.3 percent).

The yield of vegetables increased in physical volumes by 11.3 percent compared with the first quarter of 2019, to 62,600 tons.

Live weight production of meat increased by four percent to 476,700 tons, milk by 2.9 percent to 1.78 million tons, eggs by 5.2 percent to 1.37 billion, and wool by 0.4 percent to 35,400 tons.

The volume of production in the fishery of Uzbekistan increased by 17.8 percent in value terms and reached 200 billion soum ($19.6 million), in physical terms - by 19.1 percent and made up 15 300 tons.
