Some 6.7 billion tenge ($15.6 million) were spent in Kazakhstan’s North Kazakhstan region to renew the specialized vehicles fleet before the start of the spring sowing work, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.
Currently, the work of moisture conservation has begun in the region.
This year, the sowing area in North Kazakhstan region covers 4.2 million ha. The majority of the land, i.e. 2.8 million ha, will be sown with crops, in particular wheat. About a million ha were allocated for oilseeds sowing, almost 353,000 will be used for fodder crops, 32,500 for potatoes, and 6,000 for vegetables.
A total of 13,600 tractors, 15,800 grain seeders, 1,200 modern high-performance sowing complexes will be engaged in the sowing campaign this year. Almost all agricultural vehicles were prepared for sowing, whereas 1 percent of the vehicles remain under repair.
Since the beginning of the year, the machine and tractor fleet of the region has been replenished with 433 units of new machinery, including 90 tractors, 15 sowing complexes and 154 grain seeders.
The ministry added that almost 69,000 tons of diesel fuel on preferential prices were allocated for spring field work in the North Kazakhstan region.
For additional funding of the spring field work, financial institutions of Kazakhstan’s KazAgro approved 316 applications from farmers for 16.6 billion tenge ($38.6 million) of subsidies.
