Irish IDI may attract foreign companies to Free Economic Zone of Uzbekistan

Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK and Northern Ireland jointly with the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan held a videoconference with representatives of International Development Ireland (IDI) led by its Acting CEO Sean McEllin, Trend reports with reference to Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan.

The event was aimed at broad coverage of Uzbekistan's investment attractiveness, as well as strengthening the country's image in the international arena.

During the event, the management of the Agency acquainted the participants with the Agency's activities, its tasks to provide necessary information and legal support to foreign investors.

Sean McEllin noted that IDI is engaged in promoting investment potential, including the institutional capacity of foreign agencies, management of free economic zones, export potential, encouragement and support of small businesses, as well as has extensive experience in developing and implementing investment projects.

At the end of the meeting it was agreed to further study the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation with IDI in order to attract foreign companies to implement projects in Khazarasp Free Economic Zone of the Khorezm region.

Moreover, IDI may participate in Uzbek projects on processing of fruits, vegetables for their further export to the markets of the EU and the UK.
