Second Phase of Rehabilitation of Hugest Main Gas Pipeline Begins in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 23 September / Trend corr. N.Kirtzkhalia / On 23 September the Millennium Challenge Georgia Fund (MCG) intends to sign 8.7mln lari contract with the Georgian New Energy-Tbilisi-Gruzgido Joint Venture (JV), which won at the international tender to implement the second phase of rehabilitation of the North-South gas pipeline, the MCG said.

The rehabilitation work will be done in sections in Rustavi and at the Gldanula river, intersection of the Dushetiskhevi river, intersection of the Tzkhvedieti river, construction of two culvert aqueducts of the northern Ananuri, shore protection at the Aragvi river of the northern Pasanauri, change of cranes and dismantling Zhinvalski crane.

Work will begin in October 2008 and finish in summer 2009.

The Millennium Program with the budget of $49.5mln targets to restore the damaged sections of the North-South main gas pipeline.
