The Azerbaijani Tariff Council denies rumors about changing fuel prices.

The council called the rumors "groundless," as no appeals have been submitted to alter the tariffs.

Such information generates false excitement, the council said.

The most recent increases in energy prices were made after a council decision on Jan. 8, 2007. The price on A-95 automobile gasoline increased to 0.60 manat, DM A-92 and A-80 to 0.55 manat and diesel fuel to 0.45 manat. The cost of one kWh of electricity increased to 0.6 manat.

On Feb. 4 the official exchange rate is 0.8071 manat to $1.
