In the first half of 2009 SOCAR's Azerbaijani oil terminal in Georgia's Port of Kulevi will launch construction of railway lines leading to the terminal. The construction will be implemented as part of obligations taken before the Georgian railway, a source in the terminal said on Feb. 10.
Railway lines are planned to be constructed near Chaladidi and Kolkheti stations. All operations will be realized within 10 kilometer stretch. Moreover, two bridges will be built as well.
Construction of the second additional railway line from Chaladidi to the Kulevi terminal will allow entering the terminal via one line and leaving via other one.
Presently, one railway line leads to the Kulevi terminal.
All operations, as part of railway lines reconstruction, conducted by the terminal, are directed towards increasing the volume of oil and oil products trans-shipment.
